From the shelf: The Fountainhead

Finished The Fountainhead by Ayn (“Ayn” with a long “i,” according to Wikipedia) Rand today. Here are some brief thoughts:

  1. I appreciated the intricacy of the plot and enjoyed guessing the motives and next moves of the characters.
  2. The plot was more sensational than I expected from Rand, featuring some odd, if not shocking, romantic relationships.
  3. Rand is increasingly heavy handed in relating her philosophy (Objectivism) as the story progresses. The end might as well have been a sermon.
